Ariana Grande Announces Planned Hiatus After Tour Completion
During a concert in Chicago, Ariana Grande said her upcoming break from public appearances was a pre-planned decision, not a reaction to recent events, and confirmed she will step back after finishing her Eternal Sunshine tour.
Ariana Grande used her Monday night performance at Chicago’s United Center to explain that she will pause public engagements after the conclusion of her Eternal Sunshine tour. She said the decision was made "quietly a long time ago" and was not a reactive or impulsive response.
Reading from a phone, Grande added that the choice came from a "thoughtful and empowered place" and emphasized that "multiple things can be true at the same time," including the need for personal boundaries and breaks.
The announcement follows reports that she has withdrawn from a planned role in the London production of Stephen Sondheim’s "Sunday in the Park With George," scheduled to open at the Barbican in 2027. A spokesperson told People magazine that Grande intends to finish the tour "on a high note, both healthily and happily" before taking a "much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances."
Grande also addressed fan concerns about negativity, stating that setting boundaries is necessary and that the upcoming hiatus will allow her to continue her professional and creative pursuits.
