Eagles report strong performances from Jalen Hurts and defensive standouts in Day 4 of training camp
Quarterback Jalen Hurts showed improved accuracy and scored a rushing touchdown, while defensive players such as Jalen Carter and Moro Ojomo made notable plays during the fourth day of Philadelphia Eagles training camp.
Philadelphia Eagles held their fourth day of training camp inside a practice bubble as heavy rain flooded the city. Quarterback Jalen Hurts delivered his most accurate outing of the camp, completing throws across the field and connecting with Elijah Moore for a touchdown after a deep seam pass. He also hit Dontayvion Wicks on the sideline and DeVonta Smith near the end zone, and added a rushing touchdown on a red-zone quarterback draw. Hurts threw his first interception of camp when a miscommunication with Moore resulted in a pick-six by Quinyon Mitchell.
Defensive lineman Jalen Carter continued to impress, shedding double teams and pressuring the quarterback, which contributed to a sack by A.J. Epenesa. Fellow defensive tackle Moro Ojomo recorded multiple tackles for loss, sharing one with Byron Young. Backup edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie demonstrated coverage ability by breaking up a pass intended for Eli Stowers.
Backup quarterback Andy Dalton performed consistently, delivering timely throws to Hollywood Brown and completing a two-point conversion to Will Shipley. Cole Payton showed willingness to attempt deep passes, including a contested throw to Erik Ezukanma that was broken up by defenders.
Running back Tank Bigsby saw a high volume of carries and receptions, suggesting an expanded role. Rookie edge rusher Uar Bernard recorded a sack, drawing enthusiasm from teammates. Additional observations highlighted the progress of undrafted players such as long snapper Rocco Underwood and rookie edge Joshua Weru.
Makai Lemon left practice early due to an injury that team officials described as not significant. Overall, the day featured a mix of offensive highlights and defensive aggression as the Eagles continue preparations for the upcoming season.
