Three killed, two injured in shooting at Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger
A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, left at least three dead and two wounded, with the suspected gunman also dead, authorities said.
At least three people were killed and two others wounded during a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant on Blue Lakes Boulevard in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon. Police received the first call about an active shooter inside the dining area at about 2:30 p.m. local time, city spokesman Josh Palmer said.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks announced that the suspected shooter was dead, though it was not immediately clear whether he was among the fatalities. The exact number of victims was still being confirmed, and officials expected the toll to rise.
"We have literally hundreds of people that were in some way, shape or form in the area of this restaurant at the time," Chief Hicks told reporters, describing the scene as "exceptionally chaotic."
Hospital officials at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center asked the public to avoid the facility unless an emergency required a visit, while the emergency department remained open.
The In-N-Out location, which opened the previous Friday, had attracted large crowds, including some patrons who camped outside for the opening. The chain’s chief operating officer, Denny Warnick, said the company was cooperating with police in the investigation.
The incident occurred in a busy shopping district near Interstate 93 and a bridge leading into Twin Falls. Police continue to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
