Caitlin Clark recorded a triple-double and her 1,500th career point while Indiana beat Portland 112-98, extending the Fever's winning streak to five games.
Caitlin Clark posted a triple-double and reached 1,500 career points as the Indiana Fever defeated the Portland Fire 112-98 on Friday in Portland. Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach both 1,500 points and 500 assists, achieving the milestone in her 78th game. Kelsey Mitchell also contributed, scoring her 749th three-pointer, which moved her past Tina Thompson into sixth place on the league's all-time three-point list. Mitchell recorded her 13th consecutive game with at least 20 points, tying Diana Taurasi for the second-longest streak in league history.
The Fever built a decisive lead with a 23-9 run that gave them an 18-point advantage heading into the final ten minutes. Portland narrowed the gap to seven points in the fourth quarter, but Indiana closed out the game to secure its fifth straight win, improving to 19-10 and maintaining the fourth seed in the playoffs. The Fire fell to 11-17, dropping to tenth in the standings and seeing their postseason prospects diminish.
"We knew we had to execute and stay aggressive on both ends of the floor," Clark said after the game.
"Kelsey’s shooting tonight was huge for us," Mitchell added.
