Giants finish third training-camp practice with defensive highlight and mixed quarterback review

Summary

New York Giants completed Day 3 of training camp, highlighted by a defensive tackle’s interception, while coaches evaluated a risky quarterback throw and managed player injuries.

New York – The Giants wrapped up their third two-hour practice at the White Sulphur Springs training facility on a hot West Virginia afternoon. Defensive tackle Darius Alexander intercepted a short pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart in the final moments, a play the coaching staff described as a "game-winner" that sealed the drill.

"Probably a presence of mind kind of a play. Probably felt like the ball had to get out," head coach John Harbaugh said, adding that the quick down-field tackle prevented any risk of a turnover.

The interception sparked discussion about Dart’s decision-making. Harbaugh noted that the team was already in field-goal range and suggested the quarterback might have been better served by avoiding the throw, but also emphasized the value of pushing players in camp situations.

"He’s trying to get yards. I think we’re in field goal range, so he’s got to make that decision probably not to do that," Harbaugh said, adding that the team would review the play in meetings.

Other notable performances included rookie linebacker Arvell Reese deflecting a Dart pass intended for Odell Beckham, and placekicker Ben Sauls converting a 58-yard field goal after a previous 57-yard success. Wide receiver Malik Nabers, recovering from a torn ACL, was given a rest day after two days of route work.

Running back Cam Skattebo addressed recent criticism over a failed backflip stunt, stating he will refrain from such moves until he scores a touchdown in a game and acknowledging coaching feedback.

Injury updates: cornerback Art Green missed on-field drills for the second day due to muscle tightness, and tight end Tanner Conner left practice with an unspecified issue.
