Electronic Arts to Finalize $55 Billion Take-Private Transaction by Early August

Resumen

Electronic Arts announced that all regulatory approvals for its $55 billion go-private deal have been secured and the merger is expected to close around August 4, 2026.

Electronic Arts said on Thursday that it has obtained all required regulatory approvals for its previously announced $55 billion take-private transaction and anticipates closing the merger at the end of trading on August 4, 2026. The filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission noted that the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions, which may be satisfied or waived as stipulated in the merger agreement.

The transaction, first disclosed in September, involves a consortium of investors that includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, private-equity firm Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, a firm linked to Jared Kushner. The original target date for completion was June 30, but regulatory reviews delayed the timeline.

Under the agreement, Electronic Arts will retain its Redwood City, California headquarters and its chief executive, Andrew Wilson, will continue to lead the company. The publisher has recently reported strong performance from its portfolio, highlighted by the launch of "Battlefield 6," which was the top-selling game of 2025.
