Rep. Max Miller, a Republican congressman, faces a restraining order request after a disputed courthouse incident, as political opponents and the media seize on personal matters to attack a conservative lawmaker.
A lawyer representing the ex-wife of Rep. Max Miller has filed a petition for a restraining order against the congressman, alleging that Miller grabbed attorney Andrew Zashin’s arm and another lawyer’s bag in a courthouse hallway on Tuesday. The incident reportedly took place after a hearing in the ongoing custody dispute between Miller and his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and is being used by Miller’s adversaries to paint a negative picture of the congressman.
According to the petition, Miller’s actions were an attempt to get Zashin’s attention and referenced the attorney’s fiancée. Miller’s own counsel, Larry Zukerman, allegedly remarked that his client “just can’t control himself,” a statement that has been highlighted by those eager to discredit the congressman.
This restraining order request comes after earlier allegations in the same case, including a supposed crude comment by Miller about Zashin’s fiancée in May. Miller, who has consistently denied all abuse accusations, has taken legal action against Moreno and Zashin for defamation. Moreno has also accused Miller of suffering from bipolar disorder—a claim his lawyer has strongly rejected.
The dispute has become a political football, with Democratic lawmakers calling for an ethics investigation into Miller’s conduct, despite Miller stating that no formal inquiry is underway. The situation exemplifies how personal legal matters are weaponized by the left and the media to undermine conservative voices.
