Three major surveys released this week place President Donald Trump's overall approval rating between 32 and 34 percent, marking his lowest level since early 2021.
Three independent polls published this week indicate that President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating is in the low 30 percent range. The CNN poll reports 34 percent approval, the AP-NORC poll 33 percent, and the Quinnipiac poll 32 percent. A separate survey by the Argument, conducted with 3,000 registered voters from July 20-26, found a combined “strongly” and “somewhat” approval rating of 39 percent, while 57 percent expressed disapproval.
The CNN poll noted that 73 percent of respondents believed Trump has not focused enough on the country’s most important problems, and 58 percent expressed dissatisfaction with his proposed projects in Washington, D.C. Navigator Research linked the decline in Trump’s popularity to higher gas prices and the ongoing conflict in Iran.
Political science professor Tatishe Nteta of UMass-Amherst said that approval ratings consistently below 40 percent are unusual for a sitting president and may signal reduced support within the president’s own party. The latest figures come as primary contests conclude and candidates prepare for upcoming midterm elections.
