Eagles Day 2 training camp sees injury, roster rotations and strong defensive showing
Philadelphia Eagles held their second training-camp session, featuring a first-team injury, quarterback rotations, and notable performances from both offense and defense.
The Philadelphia Eagles returned to the practice field Thursday for the second day of their 2026 training camp, completing a 1-hour-32-minute session under changing weather conditions. The day began overcast, cleared for sun, and grew steamy by the end.
Second-year offensive tackle Cameron Williams suffered the camp’s first injury, leaving the field after trainers evaluated him and later heading to the medical tent without returning. Outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard remains on the physically unable to perform list, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio indicated the player will miss a significant portion of camp.
Quarterback duties continued to rotate, with Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee sharing second-string reps, while rookie Cole Payton saw limited action and threw three interceptions, two of which occurred on consecutive plays. Veteran blocking tight end Johnny Mundt received substantial run-blocking reps in 12-person personnel sets, positioning him for a potential roster role.
The offensive line lineups were listed for first, second, third, and developmental units, with Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson and others on the first team. Defensive depth chart notes highlighted Marcus Epps receiving early safety snaps, Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell anchoring the linebacker corps, and no changes to the starting defensive line.
Defensive units applied consistent pressure on quarterback Jalen Hurts, limiting his options and generating several sacks and coverage pressures. Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, acquired in an offseason trade and signed to a one-year extension, was highlighted for a contested 35-40-yard catch against double coverage.
Veteran receiver DeVonta Smith also made notable plays, including a contested sideline catch in 7-on-7 drills and a shoestring reception on a play-action route. Tight end Dallas Goedert connected on a deep seam route during a team drill, reaffirming his role in the upcoming offense.
Other observations included kicker Jake Elliott converting six of seven attempts, an end-around run by Elijah Moore, and a pass breakup by fifth-round pick Mac McWilliams. Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins visited the practice, meeting rookie Riq Woolen.
The Eagles will hold a media-free walkthrough on Friday before resuming practice on Saturday.
