Summary

A CNN survey reveals Trump’s approval has cratered to 34%, with a vast majority of Americans condemning his self-serving agenda and disregard for the nation’s real crises ahead of the midterms.

A recent CNN poll, commissioned by SSRS, paints a damning picture of President Donald Trump’s leadership as the midterm elections approach. An overwhelming 75% of American adults believe Trump is neglecting the country’s most urgent problems, while 66% see him as prioritizing his own interests over those of the American people. This survey, conducted less than 100 days before the November midterms, shows Trump’s approval rating plummeting to just 34%, matching the historic low he reached after inciting the January 2021 Capitol insurrection.

The public’s disapproval extends to Trump’s reckless foreign policy, with only 28% supporting his handling of the Iran conflict and a mere 25% believing the war’s devastating costs in lives and resources are justified. Domestically, the pain is acute: 74% say soaring gasoline prices have caused them hardship, a significant jump from 63% earlier this year, underscoring Trump’s failure to address working-class struggles.

Economic dissatisfaction is mounting, as 71% now say Trump has not done enough to lower everyday costs—a sharp rise from 58% a year ago. His cruel immigration agenda is also under fire, with just 39% rating his performance positively and 54% condemning his inhumane mass deportations.

When asked if Trump understands the daily struggles of ordinary Americans, 73% said no. Only 38% consider him an effective world leader, and 57% believe the 80-year-old president lacks the energy and mental acuity required for the job. The poll underscores a nation fed up with a president who serves the wealthy and himself, while ignoring the needs of the many.
