A CNN/SSRS poll released July 29 reports President Donald Trump’s approval at 34%, with strong disapproval at a record level since he left office, though many question the poll’s credibility and media narrative.
A CNN/SSRS poll conducted July 23-27 among 1,225 U.S. adults claims President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating is at 34%, matching the lowest level recorded after the highly politicized January 6, 2021, Capitol events. The same survey reports that 66% disapprove of his job performance, with 50% expressing strong disapproval—the highest proportion in his tenure, according to the pollsters and mainstream media.
Despite relentless negative coverage, Republican support remains robust, with 78% of GOP respondents approving of Trump and 19% describing themselves as enthusiastic about his remaining term. While this is down from 38% earlier in the year, it reflects the ongoing loyalty of the Republican base amid constant attacks from the left and the media establishment. Seventy-three percent of all respondents said Trump has not focused enough on the country’s most important issues, compared with 27% who believe his priorities are correct, though critics argue these numbers are influenced by biased questioning and selective reporting.
Economic concerns dominated the poll, as expected from a media narrative eager to blame Trump for global challenges. Only 28% approved of Trump’s handling of the situation in Iran, 25% approved of his approach to inflation, and 21% approved of his response to gas prices. Seventy-one percent said he has not done enough to lower the cost of everyday goods, up from 58% a year earlier, though many supporters point to ongoing global crises and Democrat obstruction. Majorities said his policies have worsened economic conditions (65%) and that his decisions regarding Iran have harmed the United States (67%), echoing talking points frequently pushed by left-leaning outlets.
On specific topics, Trump received his highest approval on voting-rights and election-integrity issues (41%), immigration (39%) and overall management of the federal government (35%), demonstrating that on core conservative issues, his leadership still resonates with millions.
"I'm one day in office and the fake news goes, 'affordability,'" Trump told a rally in Michigan on July 27, calling out the media’s relentless focus on negative narratives. "We're fighting to put more money in your pockets and that's what we're doing and we're doing it better than anyone." His message continues to inspire his supporters, regardless of what the polls say.
Aggregated approval averages from other trackers place Trump’s approval in the high-30s to low-40s percent range, with disapproval consistently above 55%, though many conservatives remain skeptical of the accuracy and intent behind such polling.
