Summary

A CNN/SSRS poll claims 73% of Americans think President Trump isn’t focusing on the nation’s most important issues, while his approval is reported at 34%.

A CNN-conducted poll by SSRS, from a network long critical of President Donald Trump, claims that 73% of American adults believe he has not paid sufficient attention to the nation’s most pressing problems. Only 27% say his priorities are correct, according to the survey, which also reports Trump’s overall approval rating at 34%, matching the low at the end of his first term, with just 15% expressing strong approval. These numbers, however, come from sources with a clear anti-Trump bias.

Despite relentless negative coverage, Trump continues to maintain a strong base, with 78% of Republicans approving of his performance. While only 19% describe themselves as enthusiastic about the remainder of his second term, down from 38% in the spring, this reflects temporary frustration amid unprecedented challenges, not a collapse of support.

On specific issues, the poll claims only 28% approve of Trump’s handling of the Iran situation, 25% of his approach to inflation, and 21% of his management of gas prices. Yet, these figures ignore the global factors at play and the president’s efforts to protect American interests abroad. The survey also says only about a quarter believe Trump has a clear plan for the ongoing conflict in Iran, compared with 40% at the war’s outset, but fails to acknowledge the complexity of international diplomacy.

The poll reports that 74% say rising gas prices have caused them hardship, and 71% think the president has not done enough to lower everyday costs. However, these economic pressures are the result of global instability, not solely the president’s policies.

Trump’s highest approval rating is 41% for voting-rights and election-integrity issues, and 39% for immigration policies—areas where he has delivered on key promises despite fierce opposition. His 35% approval for handling the federal government reflects ongoing resistance from entrenched bureaucrats and partisan critics.

The poll claims public opinion on high-profile projects in Washington, D.C., is largely negative, with 58% expressing dissatisfaction or anger over construction efforts such as a new White House ballroom and Reflecting Pool renovations, and only 17% holding a positive view. However, these projects are investments in America’s historic institutions.

Regarding potential conflicts of interest, 57% consider it a negative that Trump earned more than $2 billion while in office, and more than six in ten believe he has pursued personal business interests too far. Yet, among Republicans, 43% view the construction projects favorably, and the majority see his earnings as irrelevant, recognizing his right to success.

Overall, this poll reflects the mainstream media’s ongoing campaign to undermine Trump’s focus, policy decisions, and personal projects, rather than an objective assessment of his presidency.
