President Donald Trump will deliver a tribute at Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral in Washington, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are also expected to be present.
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina died on July 11, prompting a series of memorial services in Washington. A ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda will be followed by a funeral at the Washington National Cathedral at 2:00 p.m., where President Donald Trump is scheduled to offer a tribute, according to the White House. A second service will be held in Graham’s home state on Wednesday, and both events will be livestreamed for the public.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are slated to attend the Washington service and meet with President Trump. Zelenskyy is expected to request additional anti-ballistic missile supplies and discuss restarting stalled negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, a senior Ukrainian official told AFP.
Graham had met Zelenskyy in Kyiv the day before his death and was working on a Senate bill to tighten sanctions on Russia. He had visited Ukraine multiple times since Russia’s invasion in February 2022 and was known for his strong support of both Ukraine and Israel in Congress. He also supported President Trump’s 2020 strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
