Savannah Guthrie urges kidnapper to reveal location of missing mother six months after disappearance
Today host Savannah Guthrie posted a new video pleading for information about her 84-year-old mother, who vanished on Feb. 1, and reiterated a combined $1.1 million reward for tips.
Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of the "Today" show, posted a fresh video on Instagram on Monday asking anyone responsible for her mother’s disappearance to provide information about her whereabouts. The appeal comes just under six months after Nancy Guthrie, 84, was recorded by a doorbell camera on Feb. 1 as a masked individual entered her home near Tucson, Arizona.
"I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice, help us find her, tell us where to look for her," Guthrie said in the video.
Law enforcement has classified the case as a suspected kidnapping for ransom. Several ransom notes were received in the weeks after the incident; investigators determined some to be hoaxes while others remain under review. The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward, and Guthrie has added a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s recovery.
Nancy Guthrie, a retired University of Arizona communications employee, was reported missing after failing to appear at a friend’s house for a livestreamed mass. Her family has issued multiple statements, emphasizing her health needs and the urgency of locating her.
