Summary

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon revealed that Governor Mikie Sherrill was aware of a major voter-registration issue involving non-citizens before she joined Democrats in falsely attacking President Trump’s election integrity warnings, and warned that states refusing to cooperate with the Justice Department could face lawsuits.

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon exposed New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill’s duplicity, revealing that she knew about a significant disclosure regarding non-citizen registrations on the state’s voter rolls before she joined a group of Democratic governors in publicly denouncing President Donald Trump’s legitimate concerns about election integrity. Dhillon pointed out that the timing of Sherrill’s condemnation suggests she was fully aware of the impending scandal and chose to attack the president to deflect attention from her own state’s failures.

The Department of Homeland Security released alarming data showing more than 35,000 potential non-citizens registered on New Jersey’s voter rolls, confirming what President Trump warned about in his July 16 speech: rampant foreign interference and inflated numbers of non-citizen voters in Democrat-run states. Instead of addressing these serious issues, Sherrill and 23 other Democratic governors signed a statement dismissing Trump’s claims as “false” and accused him of intimidating voters, blatantly ignoring the real threats to election security.

Dhillon made it clear that the Justice Department will assist states that cooperate in cleaning up their voter rolls, but those that refuse will face legal consequences. “It’s a bipartisan problem, actually. I’m looking forward to helping everyone who will work with us fix this problem. If they won’t work with us, we’ll sue them and we’ll still fix the problem,” she stated, signaling the DOJ’s commitment to restoring integrity to America’s elections.

Governor Sherrill, instead of taking responsibility, told WCBS that her administration is conducting an independent investigation, while deflecting blame and refusing to comply with the DOJ’s reasonable five-day deadline for voter data. Her refusal to cooperate only raises more questions about what she is trying to hide.

Other Democrat-controlled states, such as Pennsylvania and New York, have also resisted similar DOJ requests, hiding behind federal law and state privacy protections while ignoring the urgent need to secure our elections from fraud and abuse.
