LeBron James officially signs with Philadelphia 76ers
LeBron James has joined the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million contract, and the team waived Dalen Terry to accommodate his salary under the cap.
The NBA confirmed on Sunday that the Philadelphia 76ers have signed forward LeBron James to a contract. James, the league’s all-time leading scorer, announced the agreement on social media on Friday, marking his 24th season in the NBA. The deal is reported to be for two years and $8 million, according to a league source speaking to The Athletic on condition of anonymity.
The Sixers also waived wing Dalen Terry on Sunday, a move that clears space under the league’s first apron salary-cap threshold, allowing James’s salary to be added to the roster. Terry, 24, previously spent the first three and a half seasons of his career with the Chicago Bulls after being selected 18th overall in the 2022 draft. He was later traded to the New York Knicks, then to the New Orleans Pelicans, and after being waived by the Pelicans, signed with Philadelphia, where he posted averages of 4.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14 games last season.
