Panthers place linebacker Nic Scourton on injured reserve
Carolina Panthers moved rookie linebacker Nic Scourton to season-ending injured reserve after a knee injury and signed UFL defensive player of the year Cam Gill.
The Carolina Panthers announced on Friday that linebacker Nic Scourton has been placed on injured reserve, ending his 2026 season. Scourton suffered a right-knee injury during the first practice of training camp on Thursday, with reports indicating a torn ACL, though the team did not confirm the exact diagnosis.
Scourton recorded five sacks as a rookie in 2025. In related moves, the Panthers signed Cam Gill, the 2026 UFL defensive player of the year who posted 11 sacks for Louisville this spring, to compete for a role on the defensive line. The team also added offensive tackle Derrell Bailey, an undrafted Georgia State graduate, and waived guard Joshua Gray.
