Apple's iPhone 18 Pro promises longer battery life, camera upgrades and design tweaks

Summary

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro with a larger battery, significant camera hardware improvements and a refreshed design, including new colors and a smaller Dynamic Island.

Apple is slated to release the iPhone 18 Pro in the coming months, offering several upgrades that could persuade owners of the iPhone 17 Pro to switch. Industry leaks suggest the new model will feature a larger physical battery and efficiency gains from an LTPO+ display, a 2 nm A20 Pro processor and a possible Apple-designed C2 cellular modem, extending usage between charges.

The camera system is also expected to see its most substantial hardware revision in years, with a variable aperture on the main sensor and a larger aperture on the telephoto lens, according to analyst Mark Gurman. A separate leaker noted that the main camera module may be about 2 mm thicker, indicating a larger optical assembly.

Design changes include three new color options—Dark Cherry, Light Blue and Silver—potentially alongside a traditional black or space-gray finish. The Dynamic Island cutout is projected to shrink by roughly 35 %, and the rear will shift from a two-tone glass-and-aluminum finish to a unified look.

These enhancements aim to make the iPhone 18 Pro a more compelling upgrade for users seeking better battery endurance, advanced photography capabilities and a refreshed aesthetic.
