An 18-year-old actress who appeared in the recent Godzilla franchise films died following a single-car crash in Frederick County, Maryland, on July 21. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt-force injuries and ruled the incident an accident.
Frederick County sheriff's deputies and fire-rescue personnel responded to the crash at approximately 2:52 a.m. The vehicle, a Honda Accord driven by a 19-year-old, was traveling at what officials described as excessive speed when it left the right side of a two-lane road and struck a culvert. The actress was among three occupants; she was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The second passenger declined medical treatment at the scene, and the driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
"The death was ruled an accident and resulted from multiple blunt-force injuries," the medical examiner's report stated.
Kaylee Hottle's father, Joshua Hottle, confirmed his daughter's death in a live video posted to social media, noting that she would be an organ donor. Hottle, who was deaf, had a role in the Godzilla films as an orphaned girl who communicates with Kong using sign language.
