Blackhawks sign Patrick Kane to two-year deal, fan’s tattoo wager noted
Chicago re-signed forward Patrick Kane to an $8 million, two-year contract, prompting the team to acknowledge a fan’s promise of a tattoo if he returned.
The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that they have re-signed veteran forward Patrick Kane on a two-year contract worth $8 million. Kane, who spent the first 15½ seasons of his NHL career in Chicago and helped the team win three Stanley Cups, returns after a stint with the New York Rangers, a hip-resurfacing surgery in 2023, and three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, where he posted 57 points in 67 games during the 2025-26 campaign.
The franchise also referenced a fan who had pledged to get a tattoo celebrating the Blackhawks as the 2027 Stanley Cup champions if Kane re-joined the club. > "We appreciate the enthusiasm of our fans and look forward to seeing what Patrick brings to the lineup," a Blackhawks spokesperson said.
Kane, now 38, is expected to provide even-strength scoring as the Hawks address early-season offensive needs, especially after star Connor Bedard underwent shoulder surgery that will keep him out at the start of the 2026-27 season. Kane could initially fill the scoring gap before potentially playing alongside Bedard later in the campaign.
