Summary

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jamie Raskin has announced a partisan investigation into claims that Jeffrey Epstein acted as an unregistered foreign agent for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and Israel, in a transparent attempt to smear President Trump’s first administration.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, has launched yet another politically motivated inquiry—this time targeting the late financier Jeffrey Epstein with unproven allegations of foreign collusion intended to tarnish President Donald Trump’s legacy. In a letter to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, National Intelligence nominee Jay Clayton, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Raskin referenced so-called 'substantial evidence' of Epstein’s supposed ties to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, but provided little concrete proof.

'Jeffrey Epstein never registered as a foreign agent,' Raskin said. 'Yet numerous recently released documents now show he acted aggressively on behalf of multiple foreign governments, including several with interests adverse to the United States, in order to influence policies of the first Trump administration.'

The investigation centers on a November 2016 trip to Riyadh, where Epstein allegedly met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and offered to serve as a 'financial confidant'—claims based on hearsay and unverified emails. Raskin also points to Epstein’s supposed communications with Trump Tower and advice to the Kuwaiti emir before a 2017 Gulf summit, stretching the bounds of credibility to implicate Trump’s team.

Raskin further highlights leaked correspondence suggesting Epstein helped Barak establish a back-channel with Russia and sought a meeting with President Putin in 2013 to influence Russian policy on Syria. Additional emails allegedly show Epstein providing Barak with information about U.S. officials to pressure the Obama administration on Iran and Syria—again, all based on selective leaks and innuendo.

The committee’s review even includes claims that Epstein advised former Trump strategist Steve Bannon on how to avoid filing under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, a clear attempt to drag Trump allies into the mud. Raskin’s assertions that Epstein wielded 'leverage' over Trump and posed a national security risk are yet another example of Democrats using conspiracy theories to distract from their own failures and delay the release of files that would expose the truth.
