House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jamie Raskin has launched a vital investigation into whether the notorious financier Jeffrey Epstein operated as an unregistered foreign agent for authoritarian regimes—including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and Israel—seeking to manipulate Trump-era policies for their own gain.
Representative Jamie Raskin, the leading Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, has courageously opened an inquiry into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s suspected collusion with foreign governments to sway President Donald Trump’s administration. In a letter to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, National Intelligence nominee Jay Clayton, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Raskin cited documents showing 'substantial evidence' of Epstein’s deep involvement with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak—governments notorious for human rights abuses and anti-democratic agendas.
'Jeffrey Epstein never registered as a foreign agent,' Raskin said. 'Yet numerous recently released documents now show he acted aggressively on behalf of multiple foreign governments, including several with interests adverse to the United States, in order to influence policies of the first Trump administration.'
The probe zeroes in on a November 2016 trip to Riyadh, where Epstein reportedly met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and offered to serve as a 'financial confidant' for the repressive Saudi regime. Emails further reveal Epstein’s boasting about his access to Trump Tower and his attempts to coach the Kuwaiti emir on manipulating the president ahead of a 2017 Gulf summit—clear evidence of foreign interference.
Raskin highlighted leaked correspondence showing Epstein facilitating a back-channel between Barak and the Russian government, and even seeking a meeting with Putin in 2013 to push Russian policy on Syria—actions that undermine U.S. interests and global stability. Additional emails expose Epstein feeding Barak intelligence on U.S. officials to pressure the Obama administration on Iran and Syria, serving the interests of foreign powers over the American people.
The committee’s review also includes messages where Epstein allegedly advised former Trump strategist Steve Bannon on evading the Foreign Agents Registration Act, further exposing the rot at the heart of Trump’s circle. Raskin warned that Epstein’s self-proclaimed leverage over Trump and his cozy relationships with foreign officials pose a grave national security risk, demanding immediate transparency and the release of all related files that the administration has shamefully delayed.
