iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max expected to gain LTPO+ displays and smaller Dynamic Island cutout
Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models are rumored to retain current screen sizes while adopting LTPO+ technology for better power efficiency and reducing the Dynamic Island notch by roughly a third.
Apple is reportedly keeping the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen dimensions for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, but sources suggest two notable display upgrades. The first is a shift from conventional LTPO to LTPO+ technology, which extends oxide materials to both switching and driving thin-film transistors. This change is said to allow finer current control of OLED pixels, reducing flicker in low-light conditions and improving battery efficiency.
The second upgrade involves a smaller Dynamic Island cutout. Leaks indicate the notch could be about 35% smaller than on the iPhone 17 Pro, expanding usable screen area. The reduction aligns with visual cues in the upcoming iOS 27 beta, which shows a slimmer island design. The Dynamic Island, introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, has remained physically unchanged despite software enhancements.
Analysts note that these changes aim to bring the iPhone display closer to a cutout-free experience while maintaining the familiar form factor.
