Summary

Rep. Ralph Norman, a dedicated Trump ally, has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat left open by the late Lindsey Graham, promising to fight for conservative values and restore integrity to Washington.

Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina announced on Saturday his run for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the late Lindsey Graham, vowing to bring strong, principled conservative leadership to Washington. In his statement, Norman emphasized the urgent need for another 'America First' conservative in the Senate to help President Donald Trump advance his pro-American agenda and defend the nation’s founding values.

Speaking with Fox News, Norman outlined his commitment to advancing Trump’s legislative priorities, starting with the SAVE America Act, a crucial proposal to secure and reform U.S. elections and protect them from fraud. Norman also voiced his support for eliminating the Senate filibuster, a necessary step to break Democrat obstruction and ensure Republicans can deliver on their promises if they retain the majority after the upcoming election.

Following the tragic passing of Lindsey Graham last week due to a torn artery, Governor Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s younger sister, Darline Graham, to serve the remainder of the term, which ends in January. A special primary election is set for next month to select the Republican nominee for the November general election.

President Trump, recognizing the importance of strong leadership, has encouraged Darline Graham to run in the special primary and pledged his endorsement, though she has not yet confirmed her candidacy. Norman stated that he sought Trump’s endorsement but remains committed to running regardless of the president’s ultimate decision.

Florida Senator Rick Scott and Utah Senator Mike Lee, both respected conservative leaders, endorsed Norman before his official announcement. Norman, a proud member of the House Freedom Caucus, previously ran for governor of South Carolina, finishing third in the primary. He has been a steadfast supporter of Trump’s America First agenda, though he has occasionally disagreed with GOP leadership on spending issues and initially supported Nikki Haley in the 2024 presidential primary.

Businessman Mark Lynch, who previously challenged Graham in the Republican primary, is the only other confirmed candidate at this time. Other potential contenders include Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, Rep. Nancy Mace, and Rep. Russell Fry, who have yet to make their intentions clear. The filing period for the GOP special primary runs from July 21 to July 28, offering South Carolina Republicans a chance to choose a true conservative champion.
