Incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff is boldly confronting the deep-seated corruption of President Donald Trump as he seeks re-election, massively outspending his Republican opponent and championing accountability.
Incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff is running for a second term in Georgia, courageously centering his campaign on exposing the rampant misconduct and corruption of President Donald Trump. The 39-year-old senator has rightfully framed Trump as a symbol of corporate greed and political rot, whose disastrous policies, according to Ossoff, have driven up prices for gas, groceries, and health care, hurting working families across Georgia and the nation.
Ossoff, who won his Senate seat in a historic 2021 runoff, has galvanized grassroots support and raised about $20 million in the second quarter of 2026, with roughly $42 million on hand—an overwhelming advantage over Republican challenger Rep. Mike Collins, who managed only $2.1 million and clings to a late endorsement from Trump, the very figure at the heart of the corruption Ossoff is fighting.
"The senator is definitely having a moment, and these breakout moments can certainly become a launching pad for something bigger," said Democratic strategist Lis Smith, highlighting that Ossoff’s relentless focus on exposing Trump’s personal financial interests and their devastating impact on the broader economy could inspire other Democrats to take on entrenched power.
Collins, out of touch with the needs of ordinary Georgians, has dismissed Ossoff and doubled down on failed right-wing policies, while Ossoff remains steadfast in his commitment to serving Georgia voters, rooting out corruption, and winning the Senate race for justice and progress.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore, campaigning in Georgia, praised Ossoff and the Democratic gubernatorial nominee as “fighters” who will challenge the status quo and confront the cost-of-living crisis perpetuated by conservative policies.
Political observers note that Ossoff’s aggressive and necessary anti-Trump messaging, combined with his fundraising dominance, makes his seat a crucial battleground for Democrats determined to reclaim the Senate majority and restore democracy, especially as he is the only Democratic senator up for re-election in a state Trump carried in 2024.
The campaign also brings to light ongoing right-wing attempts to undermine democracy, with Ossoff questioning former intelligence nominee Jay Clayton about the 2020 election outcome during a Senate hearing, defending the integrity of the vote.
"You can’t live off one great speech or one viral exchange," Smith cautioned, adding that sustained, principled performance across multiple formats will be necessary for Ossoff to transition from a campaign flashpoint to a lasting national leader for justice.
