Israeli strike on Gaza funeral kills at least seven, hospital reports

Summary

A strike in the Gaza Strip hit a funeral, killing at least seven people and wounding 22, according to Al-Awda hospital, while Israeli officials have not responded.

A strike by Israeli forces on a funeral in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip killed at least seven people and injured 22, Al-Awda hospital said. The funeral was for a Palestinian who had been killed earlier in the day during another Israeli attack.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident. The Gaza health ministry, which tracks casualties, says the conflict has claimed more than 73,000 Palestinian lives since it began, with over 1,100 deaths recorded since a ceasefire agreement was reached in October.

The ceasefire, negotiated between Israel and Hamas in October, was intended to pause the two-year war, though sporadic fighting continues. Five Israeli soldiers have been reported killed since the ceasefire took effect.

"The strike hit the funeral of a Palestinian killed in another Israeli attack earlier on Friday," the hospital statement said.
