Actor Josh Grisetti's death ruled a suicide by gunshot, coroner says
The Orange County coroner confirmed that actor Josh Grisetti died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on July 10, and his friend Rob McClure announced the loss on social media.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department coroner has determined that actor Josh Grisetti, 44, died from a gunshot wound on July 10. The autopsy report listed multiple bilateral temporal calvarial fractures and a brain injury as associated injuries.
Rob McClure, a fellow Broadway performer and friend of Grisetti, posted on Instagram that Grisetti had taken his own life, expressing sympathy for his wife and family. Several other performers, including Ariana DeBose and Rachel Zegler, also offered condolences in the comments.
Grisetti had stepped away from the production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” two days before his death, citing personal reasons, and his final Instagram post indicated he was withdrawing from directorial duties for the show’s opening night because his “heart [was] hurting.”
The actor, known for Broadway roles such as Marty Kaufman in “It Shoulda Been You,” Nigel Bottom in “Something Rotten!,” and a recurring part as Ralph Emerson in the final season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” is survived by his wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, a real-estate agent he married in 2020.
