Utah DCFS Seeks Court Custody Intervention for Taylor Frankie Paul's Children

Summary

Utah's Division of Child and Family Services filed a petition asking a juvenile court to place Taylor Frankie Paul's three children under protective supervision and appoint a guardian ad litem.

Utah's Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) filed a petition this week requesting that a juvenile court find Taylor Frankie Paul's three children "abused, neglected or dependent" and place them under protective supervision. The filing seeks an expedited hearing, the appointment of a guardian ad litem, and any additional orders the court deems necessary for the children's welfare.

The petition references prior DCFS involvement with the family and ongoing custody disputes involving the children's fathers, Tate Paul and Dakota Mortensen. It follows earlier reports that both men appeared separately at a Utah courthouse seeking protective orders against Paul.

"It was recently decided that the ongoing custody actions would be best suited for juvenile court, a common step for families engaged in highly contentious, complex custody matters. Taylor is not deterred by this transition; she welcomes the added structure and oversight it provides and looks forward to continuing her progress toward normalizing custody and becoming the healthiest version of herself."

"Taylor remains fully committed to doing whatever is necessary to reach that goal and will not be swayed from it. Taylor appreciates the professionalism of DCFS and its representatives."

DCFS has asked the court to assume jurisdiction over the children and to issue protective supervision services pending further determination.
