Summary

Sen. Mitch McConnell said a fall last month caused a brief loss of consciousness and led to a hospital stay, after which he was moved to a rehabilitation center and is recovering from mild pneumonia.

Sen. Mitch McConnell announced on Sunday that a fall he suffered last month resulted in a brief period of unconsciousness and a subsequent hospital admission. He said doctors confirmed he did not break any bones, suffer a concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumor, or hemorrhage, but he did develop a mild case of pneumonia during his recovery.

"I have been moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center to continue regaining my strength," McConnell said in a statement.

He added that while he will not yet be able to return to the Senate floor to vote, he is maintaining close contact with his legislative staff as he works toward full recovery.
