Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold7 With Major Design and Camera Upgrades
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 introduces significant improvements in design, camera capabilities, and performance, marking a notable advancement over previous foldable models.
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold7, its latest foldable smartphone, featuring a slimmer and lighter design alongside enhanced camera technology. The device measures 8.9 mm when folded and weighs 215 grams, making it thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Fold6. Both the cover and main displays have increased in size, now measuring 6.5 inches and 8.0 inches respectively.
The Fold7's camera system includes a 200-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens on the rear, as well as two 10-megapixel selfie cameras. The main camera is adapted from Samsung's flagship S25 Ultra, offering improved image quality compared to earlier Fold models.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and running Samsung's One UI 8, the Fold7 delivers smooth performance and integrates a suite of AI features. The device is equipped with a 4,400 mAh battery, which reviewers found sufficient for more than a day of use.
Some drawbacks noted include the absence of S Pen support, which may disappoint users who valued stylus functionality in previous models, and a less comfortable grip due to the phone's hinge design. While the device incorporates expanded AI features, concerns remain about the practical usefulness of some functions, particularly in audio transcription.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is priced from AUD$2,899. According to a reviewer, the device represents a significant step forward for foldable smartphones, with one colleague remarking, "They did it. They finally did it."
