Linda Nosková wins Wimbledon women's singles title in all-Czech final

Summary

Linda Nosková defeated Karolína Muchová in three sets to claim her first Grand Slam title, marking the first all-Czech women’s final at Wimbledon.

Linda Nosková captured her first Grand Slam women’s singles title at Wimbledon on Saturday, beating fellow Czech Karolína Muchová 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. The No. 9 seed took the opening set comfortably and led 5-2 in the second before Muchová saved five championship points and took the set 7-5. Nosková recovered in the third set to secure the victory in her debut major final.

At 21 years and 116 days old, Nosková became the youngest Wimbledon women’s champion since Petra Kvitova in 2011. The match was the first all-Czech women’s singles final in the Open Era and the first single-nation final at the All England Club since the 2009 all-American final between Serena and Venus Williams.

Muchová, 29, saved five match points and forced a deciding set but finished as runner-up for the second time in her career, after the 2023 French Open final. Nosková joins a recent string of Czech winners, following Markéta Vondroušová in 2023 and Barbora Krejčíková in 2024.
