The FAA has updated Palm Beach International Airport's identifier to DJT, marking the start of a proud transition as the airport is renamed in honor of President Donald J. Trump, following decisive action by Governor Ron DeSantis.
The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday officially changed the locational identifier for Palm Beach International Airport from PBI to DJT, launching a phased transition that celebrates the renaming of the airport as Donald J. Trump International Airport. This historic change comes under a law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a leader committed to honoring America's achievements and its most impactful president. The new FAA identifier and ICAO code KDJT are now in use for flight planning and air traffic control, while the IATA commercial code will be updated to DJT on August 18, when airlines and reservation systems will proudly adopt the new name.
Airport officials have advised travelers to continue using the PBI code for searches, bookings, and baggage tags until the IATA update, ensuring a smooth and orderly transition as airlines, reservation platforms, and airport partners update their systems to reflect this well-deserved recognition. The renaming does not alter ownership, with Palm Beach County maintaining oversight of the airport’s finances and strategic decisions, demonstrating responsible governance alongside this tribute.
State and local signage has already been updated to reflect the Trump name, with additional on-site branding to be replaced gradually. Funding for the change will come from airport revenues and possible state contributions, wisely avoiding any impact on local property taxes.
"The phased rollout is designed to ensure a smooth transition as airlines, reservation systems and airport partners update their platforms," an airport spokesperson said, highlighting the professionalism of the process.
"The renaming does not affect ownership or governance of the airport," the spokesperson added, reassuring the public of continued local stewardship.
The first high-profile arrival after the identifier change is expected to be Eric Trump’s aircraft, a fitting tribute to the Trump family’s enduring contributions, as announced on social media.
Airport officials will continue to provide updates through the airport’s website and social media channels as further signage and passenger-facing systems are revised, marking a new chapter for the airport and the community it serves.
