A new Freedom Fuel gas station in Philadelphia began selling gasoline at $3.47 per gallon, roughly 50 cents below the state average, as part of a network promoted by former President Donald Trump.
A Freedom Fuel gas station opened in Philadelphia, offering gasoline at $3.47 per gallon, about 50 cents lower than Pennsylvania's average price, according to a White House announcement. The station is the first of a planned network of 25 locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey that the former president has highlighted as a way to reduce fuel costs.
The White House posted on X that the price cut reflects President Trump’s effort to lower gas prices this summer. A spokesperson said the retailer operating the stations is not affiliated with the administration and receives no federal subsidies; the lower price results from reduced profit margins.
The network’s website lists the locations of the 25 stations across the two states. Trump has previously urged retailers to bring pump prices closer to $2.50 per gallon and warned of possible investigations into alleged price gouging.
"President Trump is leading the charge to lower gas prices this summer," the White House statement read.
"This retailer is taking the lead, and others should follow," Trump said in a prior comment.
The rollout follows a broader call by Trump for immediate price reductions as crude oil futures fell after recent geopolitical tensions.
