Hawks Open to Sign-and-Trade Sending Jonathan Kuminga to Lakers
Atlanta is reportedly willing to facilitate a sign-and-trade that would send forward Jonathan Kuminga to Los Angeles in exchange for Jarred Vanderbilt and a 2032 first-round pick swap.
Atlanta is considering a sign-and-trade that would move forward Jonathan Kuminga to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a report in the California Post. The Hawks, which declined Kuminga's team option making him an unrestricted free agent, could receive defensive forward Jarred Vanderbilt and the Lakers' 2032 first-round pick swap in return.
The Lakers have previously offered Kuminga a two-year, $20 million contract, but the player has not accepted the deal. Sources cited in the Post say the Lakers are also open to including other roster players to create additional flexibility.
If the transaction proceeds, Kuminga could negotiate a more favorable contract, while the Hawks would acquire assets they value. The Lakers, meanwhile, would add a high-upside wing but must weigh the cost against limited salary cap space and reduced draft capital after recent acquisitions.
Kuminga posted averages of 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and a 33.3% three-point shooting rate last season.
