Police report reveals suicide note citing online bullying in death of former 'Storage Wars' star

Summary

Lake Havasu City authorities say a note found at Darrell Sheets' home referenced Facebook bullying, and the investigation identified an alleged online harasser who denied involvement.

Lake Havasu City police released the full incident report for the April 22 death of former "Storage Wars" participant Darrell Sheets, 67. Sheets was found dead in his Arizona home around 2 a.m., and a handwritten note discovered in a closet near the body mentioned he could no longer endure "the Facebook bullying."

Investigators interviewed a man identified as the alleged online bully; he was described as "extremely uncooperative," denied any role in the death, and claimed he was not in Arizona at the time. The suspect also reported receiving death threats and declined further questioning.

Sheets' girlfriend recounted that earlier in the evening he received text messages from his daughter-in-law accusing her of stealing money, which left him "sad and upset." She left the house around 8 p.m. and returned to find Sheets in his office chair with a handgun to his head. She heard him crying and shouting for her to go back to bed before a single gunshot was heard. She called 911 and later told detectives that Sheets had been unable to sleep, was stressed, and was dealing with a "male slandering his name" and recent family arguments.

Sheets, known for 13 seasons on the A&E series, had retired to Arizona and operated an antiques store. A&E expressed sympathy for his family in a statement.

Authorities have concluded their investigation into the case.
