Samsung previews wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 ahead of July 22 launch

Summary

Renderings suggest the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a larger outer display, a slimmer profile and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with a launch scheduled for July 22.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. Leaked renders released by Android Headlines show the foldable in three standard colors—Cream, Graphite and Lavender—with a fourth "Pistachio" shade listed as a Samsung.com exclusive.

The device is rumored to have a 5.5-inch QHD+ outer screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, offering a wider viewing area than recent foldables. Inside, a 7.6-inch QHD+ panel is said to use a 4:3 aspect ratio, which could improve media playback and game scaling compared with earlier models.

Dimensions are projected at 9.7 mm thick when folded and 4.5 mm when unfolded, with a weight of roughly 200 grams. The hardware configuration is expected to include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, Samsung’s custom "for Galaxy" optimizations, 12 GB of RAM and storage options starting at 256 GB, with higher-capacity variants of 512 GB and 1 TB. A 4,800 mAh battery and 25 W charging are also anticipated.

"The Fold 8 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with Samsung’s ‘for Galaxy’ customizations, paired with 12 GB of RAM and a starting configuration of 256 GB of storage," the leak notes.

The information aligns with Samsung’s recent trend of reducing thickness and weight across its foldable lineup.
