Thousands attended the funeral procession for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, with participants openly calling for revenge against the United States and Israel.
Thousands of mourners, clad in black, gathered in Tehran on Monday as the coffin of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was carried through the city. The funeral procession also included the coffins of family members killed in a February 28 airstrike, which marked the beginning of renewed hostilities involving the United States and Israel.
State media presented the ceremony as a show of national unity, while the Iranian regime continues to negotiate with Washington over a cease-fire. Participants were seen holding signs and banners attacking President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with some in the crowd chanting for retaliation against the United States and Israel, highlighting the deep-seated animosity toward the West.
One mourner, Fatima Hassan, told reporters, 'We are not here to say goodbye to him. We are here for revenge. And we will take revenge.' Such statements underscore the dangerous fanaticism and anti-Western sentiment that persist in Iran.
After the procession, Khamenei's casket was flown to the Shiite seminary city of Qom, where additional honors are planned, further fueling the regime's narrative of resistance and hostility toward the West.
