Apple releases iOS 27 beta 3 with Siri AI enhancements

Summary

Apple has made the third developer beta of iOS 27 available, featuring updates to Siri powered by new Apple Intelligence models and a range of performance and UI improvements.

Apple announced the availability of the third developer beta of iOS 27 for devices enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Users can install the update via Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. The company said a public beta is expected later this month, with the full release slated for the fall.

The beta focuses on bug fixes and refinements, while also introducing new features tied to Apple’s next-generation AI platform. Siri receives a rebuilt AI engine, described as “Siri AI,” which adds richer conversational abilities, personal context, broader knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deeper integration with apps. A new visual interface linked to the Dynamic Island and a dedicated Siri app for reviewing past interactions are also included.

Apple Intelligence expands across system apps such as Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, and Home, with some functions running on-device and others using Private Cloud Compute. The update supports iPhone 11 and later, as well as iPhone SE 2 and newer, though full Siri AI capabilities require newer hardware compatible with Apple Intelligence.

Additional changes in iOS 27 beta 3 include refinements to the Liquid Glass design, a transparency slider for system UI, performance gains for app launches, photo loading, camera start-up in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoffs. New features also add keywords and star ratings in Photos, customizable slideshows, smoother camera behavior, continuous message sending, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ settings for AirPods, enhanced Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper creation.

Developers are encouraged to test the beta and report any issues.
