Trump shares altered image of Obamas beside graffiti-covered Air Force One

Summary

President Donald Trump posted a digitally altered picture showing former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama boarding a graffiti-tagged Air Force One, prompting criticism for the misleading content.

President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform a digitally altered photograph that depicts former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama waving as they board an Air Force One painted with graffiti. The image adds the former president’s campaign slogan “Yes We Can,” the name “Obama,” the abbreviation “BLM,” and Arabic text reading “alhamdulillah,” meaning “praise be to God.”

The post follows earlier controversial content shared by Trump, including a February image that portrayed the Obamas as primates, which was removed after bipartisan criticism. In that earlier case, a staff member was later said to have created the post.

The altered Air Force One image was posted on the same day Trump spent time at his Virginia golf club, after delivering a speech on the National Mall for Independence Day celebrations. The White House and representatives for the Obamas did not respond to requests for comment.

Trump has previously shared manipulated images of the Obama presidential library, depicting it surrounded by trash, and has made critical remarks about the facility. He also posted a doctored picture of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with a caption suggesting she repeatedly asked for a photo with him, a claim that Italy’s foreign minister later disputed.

"Italy and I never beg," Meloni said in response to the fabricated post.

Trump is scheduled to travel to Turkey on Monday for a NATO summit.
