President Donald Trump once again stoked division and misinformation by posting a doctored image of Barack and Michelle Obama boarding a graffiti-covered Air Force One, drawing widespread condemnation for its racist and misleading content.
President Donald Trump has escalated his campaign of disinformation and racial provocation by posting a digitally altered image on his Truth Social platform. The image depicts former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama waving as they board an Air Force One covered in graffiti, including the former president’s campaign slogan 'Yes We Can,' the name 'Obama,' the initials 'BLM,' and Arabic text meaning 'praise be to God.'
This post follows Trump’s previous use of racist imagery, including a now-removed doctored image that depicted the Obamas as primates—an act that drew rare bipartisan condemnation for its overt bigotry. Trump has also previously shared a manipulated photo of Obama’s presidential library, maliciously portraying it as surrounded by trash, further fueling right-wing attacks on the nation’s first Black president.
'The Obama Library ten years from now will be a ‘Mecca’ for those who hate America! President DJT,' Trump wrote, weaponizing Islamophobic tropes alongside his attacks.
The latest altered Air Force One image was posted the same day Trump shared other self-aggrandizing content, including a photo of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with a caption falsely suggesting she begged for a photo with him. Trump, who is scheduled to travel to Turkey for a NATO summit, continues to use his platform to sow division and spread misinformation. The White House and representatives for the Obamas did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
