Summary

The Trump administration, prioritizing efficiency and proven performance, will retain the current contractor for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool repairs, dismissing politically motivated criticism over vandalism and contract awards.

The Interior Department, under the decisive leadership of President Trump, announced that repairs to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will continue with the existing contractor, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum confirmed Sunday. This common-sense decision comes despite left-wing attempts to undermine the project with baseless accusations regarding costs and vandalism. Burgum told CNN that the contractor had excelled, justifying the administration's commitment to results over bureaucracy.

'We’ll use the same company, because they did a fantastic job,' Burgum stated, highlighting the administration’s focus on effectiveness.

The pool was drained for a much-needed repainting, ordered by President Trump to preserve this national landmark. Unfortunately, the project was sabotaged by vandals, causing damage that Burgum described as multiple cuts totaling about 350 feet. The pool will need to be partially drained again to fix the destruction caused by these lawless acts.

Law enforcement acted swiftly, arresting several suspects, including former Olympian David Hearn, who faces a felony charge for allegedly tearing up the new sealant. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro called the crime deliberate and violent, with damages exceeding $1,000—an affront to public property and order.

The contracts, awarded without unnecessary delays, include a $1.7 million water-purification contract to Ohio-based Green Water Solutions and a $14.7 million repainting and waterproofing contract to Virginia-based Atlantic Industrial Coatings. Predictably, a group of Democratic lawmakers have seized on the situation to launch investigations, seeking to score political points rather than support the restoration of a national treasure.

Burgum declined to comment on the existence of photographic evidence of the vandalism and did not address demands for the maximum prison sentence for Hearn, appropriately deferring to the courts.
