MLB Announces All-Star Game Rosters for 2026 Midseason Classic

Summary

Major League Baseball released the American and National League rosters for the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, noting several injury withdrawals and the selection process.

Major League Baseball released the American League and National League rosters for the 2026 All-Star Game, scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. announced he will sit out the game because of an injury, according to broadcaster Hazel Mae.

Two players were automatically named starters after leading the first voting phase: Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement for the American League and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani for the National League. The remaining spots were filled through player ballots, selections by the Commissioner's Office, and a rule ensuring each of the 30 clubs is represented.

Among the selections, Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez was named the American League starter at DH after posting a .319 average with 27 home runs and 61 RBIs. Shohei Ohtani, who also leads the National League in several offensive categories, will start for the NL and is also slated to pitch. Philadelphia Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber, who leads the majors with 30 home runs, earned a roster spot despite not starting.

The rosters also feature Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, who has recorded 25 home runs this season, and pitchers Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewers and Cam Schlitter of the New York Yankees, both recognized for leading statistical categories in ERA and strikeouts.
