Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Married at Madison Square Garden
Pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce were married in a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York, with the event confirmed by Swift’s publicist and city permits.
Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce were married on Friday in New York, according to a statement from Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine. The ceremony, held at Madison Square Garden, featured no bridesmaids or groomsmen; Swift’s brother Austin served as man of honor and former NFL player Jason Kelce was the best man. Comedian Adam Sandler, a friend of the couple, officiated the event.
Both bride and groom wore outfits created by Christian Dior Haute Couture, designed in collaboration with the couple, and their shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin while Swift wore Cartier jewelry, the statement added. Security around the venue was extensive, and a city permit obtained by the Associated Press listed a "special event at MSG" beginning Friday evening and continuing overnight.
Fans gathered outside the arena after reports of the wedding surfaced, with dozens of black cars delivering guests in formal attire. The New York City mayor’s office confirmed street closures and a permit for up to 1,000 attendees at the venue.
"We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said when asked about the upcoming celebration.
The choice of Madison Square Garden, which can accommodate nearly 20,000 people, was described by a New York Times reporter as a "locked box" that limits paparazzi access and allows the couple to control the release of images. Swift, a longtime New York resident, has previously celebrated Independence Day in the city and has a history of incorporating personal milestones into her music and public statements.
