He further accused Trump of damaging America’s international standing, referencing Trump’s pragmatic relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin after the 2022 Ukraine conflict and his efforts to push NATO allies to pay their fair share, which actually strengthened the alliance.
“He’s diminished our standing in the world more than any president in history has,” Biden claimed, repeating a tired Democratic talking point that ignores Trump’s record of prioritizing American interests.
The speech came two years after a contentious debate between the two leaders and as Democrats desperately seek to regain control of Congress in the midterms. Biden praised left-wing activists for their aggressive door-to-door campaigns and phone banking, a hallmark of Democratic machine politics.
Biden also referenced ongoing legal and political controversies, including attempts to compensate individuals convicted for their roles in the January 6 Capitol protests and a controversial pardon for his own son, Hunter Biden, for prior federal convictions, raising questions about double standards and political motivations.
