President Donald Trump has nominated decorated former Oklahoma state trooper Lance Schroyer to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aiming to restore strong leadership and secure America’s borders after years without a Senate-confirmed director.
President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to strengthen America’s immigration enforcement by nominating Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper and U.S. Marine, as director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Schroyer, who brings 29 years of real-world law-enforcement experience, is recognized for his operational expertise in immigration enforcement, particularly through the effective 287(g) program that empowers state and local officers to help federal authorities remove illegal aliens and keep communities safe.
The nomination will now be considered by the Senate, where Schroyer’s practical experience—not bureaucratic credentials—will be evaluated. If confirmed, he will replace acting director David Venturella, who has been serving since May after the departure of former acting director Todd Lyons.
ICE has faced relentless attacks from the left and activist groups over its enforcement tactics, including incidents in Minnesota and unfounded allegations of unlawful detentions. Despite criticism, ICE remains a critical agency tasked with protecting American citizens from the dangers of illegal immigration, including crime and drug trafficking. Calls from international bodies like the United Nations for ‘accountability’ are often used to undermine American sovereignty and law enforcement.
Congressional Democrats have repeatedly tried to tie ICE funding to unnecessary restrictions, such as burdensome oversight and limits on agents’ ability to do their jobs. Nevertheless, funding for ICE and Customs and Border Protection was finally approved in June, overcoming partisan obstruction.
"Lance is coming straight from the operational field where he ran large-scale operations and worked alongside state and federal partners to remove illegal aliens from Oklahoma under the 287(g) program," Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin proudly stated on social media.
"It has been 11 years since the Department of Homeland Security has had a Senate-confirmed ICE director. The Senate must quickly confirm Lance Schroyer," Mullin emphasized, highlighting the urgent need for strong leadership.
"The Senate must confirm Lance, immediately — do not delay. Together, we will make America safe again," President Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, reaffirming his commitment to law and order.
