Veteran journalist Scott Pelley signs with CAA after CBS departure
After 37 years at CBS News, Scott Pelley has joined talent agency CAA following his dismissal from the "60 Minutes" program.
Scott Pelley, a broadcast journalist who spent 37 years at CBS News, has entered into representation with talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), according to a report. The agency will handle Pelley’s interests across all media areas as he explores opportunities beyond his former role on the "60 Minutes" newsmagazine. Lesley Stahl, a longtime colleague from the same program, is also represented by CAA.
Pelley’s departure from "60 Minutes" followed a public dispute during an internal town-hall meeting on June 1, where he criticized new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and the program’s newly appointed executive producer Nick Bilton. Bilton later described the exchange as an instance of “incivility and contempt.”
During his tenure, Pelley covered high-profile interviews and reported from conflict zones, including Afghanistan and Ukraine. In a farewell message to staff, he referenced the program’s long-standing audience ratings and expressed concern about recent leadership changes at the network.
