Apple releases iOS 27 beta 2 with Siri enhancements and messaging updates
Apple has issued the second developer beta of iOS 27, adding new Siri functionality and expanded RCS messaging features.
Apple has distributed the second beta of its upcoming iOS 27 operating system to developers, alongside beta versions for iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The update builds on features announced at the company's recent developer conference, with a focus on an upgraded Siri experience.
The new "Write with Siri" prompt appears above the keyboard on iPhone and iPad devices, offering users the option to generate text via the voice assistant; the prompt collapses to a Siri icon if the user begins typing manually. Additional Siri changes are described as incremental, including faster response times and preview labeling for the upcoming Expressive Voice feature.
The beta also adds support for Rich Communication Services (RCS) in the Messages app, enabling message reactions and inline replies, continuing Apple's recent efforts to improve interoperability and security for texts sent to non-Apple devices.
