U.S. and Iran agree on 60-day roadmap in Swiss talks

American and Iranian negotiators wrapped up high-level talks in Switzerland on Monday, agreeing to a 60-day roadmap that will guide the next phase of discussions on nuclear, sanctions and regional security issues. The framework creates a "de-confliction cell" to manage incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and to address the conflict in Lebanon, and it includes a communication channel for safe ship passage.

Vice President JD Vance said the talks were "productive" and highlighted Iran's agreement to invite International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors back into the country, describing it as a major milestone. He added that any future release of frozen Iranian assets would be tightly controlled and directed toward purchases of U.S. agricultural products for the Iranian people.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf said the Swiss talks helped prevent further bloodshed in Lebanon and noted that the United States and Iran would guarantee Lebanon's territorial integrity. He also said an agreement to release $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets was finalized.

U.S. officials announced a temporary 60-day license authorizing the production, delivery and sale of Iranian oil, citing Iran's commitment to free transit in the Strait of Hormuz and to allow IAEA inspections.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expressed readiness to support the U.S.–Iran agreement and urged vigilance against attempts to sabotage the process.

The Swiss foreign ministry described the negotiations as constructive progress and welcomed the establishment of a high-level committee to oversee the roadmap.
