The 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout phase will begin with a round of 32 scheduled from June 28 to July 3, followed by the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final on July 19. The expanded 48-team tournament advances the top two finishers from each of the 12 groups plus the eight best third-placed teams.

FIFA has introduced head-to-head results as the primary tie-breaker for teams level on points, before overall goal difference and goals scored. If teams remain tied, overall goal difference, total goals, conduct points and, finally, the latest FIFA world rankings are applied.

As of June 21, Mexico secured the first knockout berth by winning Group A, the United States qualified after a victory over Australia in Group D, and Germany advanced following a win against Ivory Coast in Group E.

Haiti, Turkey and Tunisia have been eliminated from the competition after failing to amass sufficient points to rank among the best third-placed teams in their groups.

The tournament schedule runs from the group stage (June 11-27) through to the final on July 19, with a bronze-medal match on July 18.
