Minnesota federal prosecutors charge 15 alleged antifa affiliates with offenses against federal officers

Resumen

U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen announced that fifteen individuals tied to two Minneapolis antifa groups have been indicted on charges ranging from conspiracy to impede federal officers to assault and property destruction.

Federal prosecutors in Minnesota indicted fifteen people alleged to be members or associates of two Minneapolis-based antifa groups. U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen and Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Michael McCarthy briefed the media, saying the defendants face charges that include conspiracy to impede federal officers, stalking, threats, solicitation of violent crime, assault on a federal officer and destruction of government property.

Rosen said the indictment reflects “extensive planning, material support and coordinated attacks against federal personnel and facilities” and called the case “an important milestone” for upholding the rule of law. He added that anyone who threatens or harms federal officers will be held accountable.

According to the Justice Department, the alleged actions range from throwing ice at agents to a vehicle collision that injured an officer. Prosecutors said they have video and eyewitness testimony, which will be presented in court.

One of the defendants, Erik Davis, a professor at Macalester College, was identified in the indictment; the college issued a brief statement confirming awareness of the charges but declined further comment.
